The road side fireworks stands that dot Texas highways normally don’t demand attention and certainly haven’t proposed (in my eyes) artistic potential. However, the unobtrusive landmarks and their charismatic proprietors poignantly portrayed by Kenny Trice provoke interest and unconventional nostalgic charm. Recently, he chronicled the flipping of a Sharpstown mid-century (literally – the house was lifted and rotated 180 degrees). The home is serving as the base for Prototype180 – A creative arts and architecture venture conceptualized by Mary Ellen Carroll.

Though I find the project objective somewhat difficult to fully grasp, I am interested in observing the project’s progress and hope to see more urban renewal in the time forgotten and crime riddled Sharpstown area.
