The submitters of dear photograph.com were given simple instructions, “Take a picture of a picture from the past in the present”. Similar to the passing of time, the photos evoke a certain reverence for their beauty countered with a longing type of nostalgic sadness. I find interest in the thought of all that has happened between pictures – love and loss, friends and first homes, births and deaths; a pictorial representation of the existentialism that is life juxtaposed with the steadfast structures that surround us..…It also makes me want to print more pictures. Here’s just a few from the site – check out the link above for the whole collection!
Dear Photograph,
We couldn’t possibly know what would cross our paths in the years ahead. One thing is certain, no one can take away those golden days….Joel
